A Guide to Help You When Buying Post Pallets

Majority of manufacturers use warehouses to safely store their products, and this in most cases is a big building particularly built for storage of goods. Products found in warehouses are normally stacked on pallets that come in the form of flat platforms that are at times made of wood slats. Pallets can as well be made of metal or plastic. Whenever a post pallet gets filled with the product, straps are used to secure them and then loaded on a forklift to place them on a pallet rack. A forklift safety cage ensures that the goods do not sustain damage since the racks can sometimes be quite high depending on warehouse size and amount of product being stored. Post pallets are solidly built to ensure toughness and they can be pricey, making it important to be cognizant of the following tips when you plan to buy them.

Width

Prior to settling for a particular post pallets, it is important to have the depth and width measured. It is along the same lines that you should measure the height of the pallet when it is fully packed. It is important for the post pallet to make room for some small spaces in between as this ensures there is easy loading and unloading.

Height

After you have figured out the best width to work with, it is also important to determine how your uprights need to be. This aspect is dependent on two primary factors: the number of levels desired and the average height of a loaded pallet. In the event that your plan is to have numerous levels, it would be prudent to buy high capacity and heavy duty second hand roll pallets as this is a sure fire way of ensuring security and safety for both people and the goods. Keep in mind that your warehouse could be in a geographical region where safety concerns such as nearby fault lines could be an issue. It would therefore be good to find out whether there are any regulations pertaining to post pallet heights and arrangements.

Material

Post pallet racks in most case are made of fiberglass, aluminum or steel. Those that are steel made will in most cases have a longer lifetime. Fiberglass and aluminum is often less durable and stable when compared to steel. When buying steel post pallets, inquire from the seller about the correct gauge that will suit your needs. Choosing the right gauge offers the required longevity and strength.
